I am an upper level accounting student who will be entering the Master's program in Accounting and Taxation at FGCU during the Fall 2013 semester. I have a 3.95 GPA as well as a Bachelor's Degree in English from Stony Brook University. I have tutored Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Intermediate Accounting III and Accounting Information Systems. I have a MBA from a top 20 program that has helped me further develop my mathematical skills in statistics and calculus. I have helped tutor children in various after-school volunteer programs and was a paid tutor while in undergrad and grad school. I believe the best way to teach is to relate the subject to the children. A child may not understand fractions but if you ask them to divide up a candy bar, they know how many pieces they want to split it in to and how many they want. I believe that listening is the key to teaching. A good teacher and a good listener is the difference between a child attending school and a child excelling in school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working in the banking field for over 15 years since I graduated with a degree in business. In Jan. 2009 I was laid off from a banking job for the second time. I am doing a career change to teaching. I have been hired as football coach at Estero High School, I will be working as a teacher this fall 2009. I have been fingerprinted by Lee County School and I am cleared to be employed. I have a son that is 8 years old I help with his home work every night. Last year in the second grade they wanted him to stay back, I said I would help him. This year in second grade he is making E & S Honor Roll.
My teaching style would be the same way I teach my son. I give him the opportunity to learn. I work with him. I put the time in to help him. I take the time to help him, and if he get a problem wrong I help him correct it.
