I feel that I can reach many types of learners. I can adapt to different learning styles and have experience with a variety of learners. I have children of my own that are aged eight to 16, so I feel that I can relate well to many different age levels. I've been a teacher for 13 years. I've taught all subjects from 1st grade to 8th grade and high school algebra 1. I'm currently teaching middle school math at the 7th and 8th grade levels. While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. My interest in writing developed during my educational career at The University of Tulsa, where I had courses in advanced exposition and argumentation and writing for the professions along with literature classes in the areas of Russian and British Literature of the 18th Century, Eastern Literature, and Greek Literature. I also took courses in Spanish, including a composition course. I currently have contracts to publish 2 manuscripts in 2011, one being a compilation of poetry and the other being a research paper dealing with depression stemming from exercise withdrawal. I know the value of a tutor in a young person’s life. As a child I struggled in math, but working with a tutor I overcame my difficulties in this area and eventually went on to complete calculus level two and even become the math club president in high school. I have earned two degrees, a Masters in Business and a BS in Finance which have allowed me to gain extensive skills in math, statistical analysis, finance and writing.
