I enjoy watching children learn and grow. I believe there are different teaching techniques for each individual student. I have come to learn this because of my younger sibling who didn't fit into the mold of a typical public school student. I am a firm believer in trying new things and new approaches.
As a Bowling Green State University student who has studied Communication Disorders I have come across many experiences with children. Communication Disorders not only includes speech, but language as well. I have gained knowledge about how children read and write and why some children may have problems with this. During my last semester of college I observed 25 hours of speech and language therpay which involved watching both adults and children. This year I will be graduating with a 3.0 in my major. I love teaching and find that I, as well as my students, learn by teaching and interactively asking questions and seeking answers together. I believe that all students learn differently, so I try to use a varied approach of general lecture review, drawing visual aids, asking students to teach me a concept, developing ideas in multiple processes and working through problem sets. I am very laid back, patient and accepting. I know that I learn best using techniques different than others, so if a student is not achieving his or her potential, they simply might need a new technique. All students can learn if they are given the opportunities and resources.
