A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching college level mathematics since 2007. Previously, was manager of a Mathnasium and provided instruction to children in mathematics from K-12. I was able to successfully tutor many high school aged students while earning my Ph.D. I am currently teaching at the University of Cincinnati at Blue Ash. This past school year I worked with a senior high school student on his pre-calculus schoolwork; we met once a week and he was able to improve his grade enough to pass the class and keep his athletic scholarship to Indiana Tech. I also mentored a freshman high school student in the area once a week and participated in the tutoring program at the South Bend Juvenile Correctional Facility.
I always try to encourage the student to do the problems on his or her own, especially in math. I feel I have enough experience in math to be able to try different angles or come up with examples to help the student understand the concepts. I hope to help the student think positively and realize that he or she can do anything if he or she believes.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a strong believer in teaching through examples and letting students try to apply the knowledge I have taught them at various smaller stages, then apply it to the bigger picture. I love working with kids, and I think that with patience, understanding, and time, all students are capable of reaching their potential.
As an undergraduate, I attended Purdue University and worked as a teaching assistant where I ran my own lab, instructing students for one of their core management courses. In my junior year, I was asked to apply to an invitation-only program for an an accelerated MBA program only for exceptional students. I am now entering my final year of this program and will graduate in 2011 with a BS in Business Management and a Masters degree in Business Administration. In order to further a student’s understanding of the material, I usually begin by making sure that he or she understands any important concepts that will be critical for solving a particular problem. I will then go through the problem step-by-step, allowing the student to solve the problem at various junctures if possible.
