I love hands-on activities and learning experiences that include technology. I also like to include activities that appeal to all types of learning styles. I have used and implemented Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences when planning and implementing lessons. I Have been a teacher since 2002. I have had various experience in teaching students diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, Asperger's Syndrome, OCD, PDD, ODD, as well as other learning, social, emotional, and behavioral disabilities. I have also had experience tutoring students from grades one to ten. I have had to plan and implement individual education plans as well as independent lessons for various students. I have worked with all different ages of students, from 3rd grade to college, and enjoyed all of my experiences. As a mother of three teenagers with distinctly different personalities and learning styles, I approach teaching in customized ways that help them open up rather than close down when faced with academic obstacles. I believe a positive attitude is contagious, so I initiate conversations which enable the student to express whatever knowledge they already have in a given subject. As a graduate of an international Ivy League-equivalent, I have world and life experience--as well as a great education--that rivals many. I have a passion for writing and knowledge which translates to my ability to teach and share with people of all ages and all skill levels. I currently teach disabled children part-time at Fieldstone Farms Therapeutic Riding Center. I enjoy teaching and entertaining the kids.
