I work with each student in the way that is best for their particular learning styles. I prefer a laid-back approach to learning, allowing students to understand at their own pace and make connection on their own. This does not mean, however, that I do not have high expectations for my students. I hold two bachelor degrees, a BA in French Language and Literature and a BS in Microbiology. I also have a certificate in African Studies and a minor in Chemistry. Therefore, I have a very well-rounded background in both the sciences and the liberal arts. I am also certified to teach English as a foreign language. I have worked with many non-native English speakers to improve or perfect various aspects of the English languages, including speaking, reading, writing, and listening comprehension.

I tutored fellow students regularly in Spanish, French, and German all 4 years of college, as I studied in Europe and Mexico, and was placed in advanced college levels my first semester in college. In the garment industry I used Spanish daily with subcontractors. In the hospitality industry I was used as a greeter for foreign language conventions, and to interpret foreign language E-mails. I spent 6 weeks as a 3rd grade Spanish student teacher in college, and the students were sad I was leaving-they loved Spanish while I was there. I am a believer in incorporating 'play acting' scenarios as part of teaching and of breaking down sentences, phrases, and words that more deeply imbed the logic behind the way the language is spoken. I always keep my students alert and interested through lots of fun games and communication one -to one or through cooperative groups in a larger setting. I taught for one year as a Title 1 teacher for grades 3 - 6 for English and Math and I taught French for two years and I tutored Arabic in a church for young learners.I also worked as an assistant teacher at Gilmour Academy in the Montessori school.
