At the University of Tampa I earned a BS in Biochemistry. While completing my degree I became knowledgeable in many areas of math and science. I also gained skills in grammar while writing research papers, lab reports, and essays in various classes. I worked in the academic center for excellence on campus for two years tutoring fellow students in chemistry, biology, genetics, and mathematics.
I love to help people, and I thrive in relationships with others that leave a meaningful impression on both the giver and the receiver. As a graduate of a Big Ten school, and a current master’s level student, I have had many focuses in school that I can teach in the tutoring setting. I also currently work in education as a tutor and a substitute teacher, sometimes as a child care worker. As a recent college graduate (and current grad student), I am very much in tune with the subjects I am able to teach, and well versed in most fields of science. I graduated from the Honor's College at Xavier University, which required the completion of accelerated courses, even in areas outside my major. Currently, I am enrolled in a Master's program at Grand Valley State in the areas of Cell and Molecular Biology, with an emphasis on Biotechnology. Ever since graduating from college and moving to Chicago I make time during my week to volunteer at the Chicago Temple in the Loop to help a child develop reading and comprehension skills in the English language. I invent creative ways and use the scientific method to engage my tutee with learning, such as on one occasion, while reading a literary work by Cuban poet Jose Marti, both the student and I individually drew pictures and diagrams as a way of interpreting the poem, and later shared our ideas with each other.

I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Grand Valley State University in 2008, and has equipped me with the knowledge of many applications of biological and physical sciences. A Little Bit About Me...

I just finished my first year of teaching science for grades 6-12 in a remote school in Nevada. It has been noted from a previous employer that I can shift very quickly between different groups of students to adjust to what is developmentally appropriate. I relate very well to both the junior high and high school age levels. I was the 8th grade class advisor and the junior high track coach. I have a simple teaching style. I teach according to the students needs. I try to get a sense of how the student learns best and let them direct me to what they need. I teach the student to teach themselves. I have had great sucess with my approach in the past, as this is a very self-rewarding experience for the student. I have often found that students soon catch-on and then begin to excell on their own.
