My overall aim in dealing with students at every level is to construct an atmosphere of mutual respect where I may equip each student with a strong foundation and provide them with the confidence and desire to acquire the skills, independence, and motivation to develop a love, talent and appreciation for art. I hope to model an enthusiasm for craft that is contagious and inspires hard work and a desire to learn. I am passionate about all kinds of art and love to share my enthusiasm with students and direct them in their journey of art discovery.
My formal teaching experience consists of weekly classes and workshops at Artful Journey, and over three years at ArtWorks Fine Art Studio. I am a graduate of both the University of Colorado and Adams State College. I hold a Master's degree in Secondary Education as well as a Initial Teacher's license. I have experience as a volunteer tutor in social studies and math, a paid tutor in reading, a student teacher, and as a substitute for the last year and a half. I also have experience as a mentor to young people through the YMCA.
My teaching style revolves around the specific learning needs of students because each person not only learns differently but has specific strengths and weakness. As teachers it is our job to meet the needs of all learners. I do not believe in presently material in one way, or one way all the time.
