A Little Bit About Me...

I have a bachelor's degree in English from Tulane University, and I've also started my teacher certification. While I was in college, I worked in three local charter schools tutoring kids in grades 1-8 in reading, as well as helping them with language arts, math, social studies, and writing skills as needed. My comments on tutoring Study Skills : I home schooled my children and have developed techniques to make the most uninterested students interested in learning. I have employed this technique with special needs students with great success as well.

I have a law degree, but most of my experience comes from working with my own kids and spending hundreds of hours volunteering at their schools helping other children. I home schooled my children for 3 years for the middle school years and so I have experience motivating the surly teen who has no motivation to work as well as the young child that just wants to play. I also taught my children and many others how to read at very young ages and have perfected the technique for teaching children math and reading who love to move. One of my children had ADD and so I know how to work well with this issue. I also have a technique for teaching multiplication and math to very young children. I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this.
