Experienced Teacher In the Arts

My comments on tutoring Creative Arts : As an Arts teacher for the past five years, I have witnessed students overcome difficulties in life once they have found a way to express themselves, whether that be through Drama, Art, Music, Dance, or Writing. These arts are not only therapeutic, but help us all to become better human beings.

I bring a ton of energy and passion into my tutoring sessions. I seek bring an understanding of the subjects at hand. Understanding is the root of confidence in in any subject.
For the past ten years I have been tutoring students mostly in the following subjects: Literature, Poetry, Folklore, Mythology, Theatre Arts, Shakespeare, and Public Speaking. I have been a professional teacher in schools for five years teaching Theatre and Folklore/Mythology in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. I also teach Shakespeare classes, camps, and workshops to students ranging from 6 to adults of all ages and experience. I love tutoring because I love inspiring students with a love for the subjects at hand through the passion and excitement I feel for the subjects I teach.

A Little Bit About Me...

Everyone learns in different ways so it's important to me that I get to know the students first. That way I can differentiate the lessons for each student. I have also learned that students are more engaged when it's a subject matter that they care about. Of course it's not realistic that this will always be the case. Sometimes you have to learn things that you are not interested in, but approaching these subjects from the way in which the student learns best, based on Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences, can make learning not only possible, but maybe even fun.
I have substitute taught for 2 years in all grades. I must be flexible, creative and outgoing while constantly adapting to new surroundings. I excel at drawing, writing and reading.
