I had no intention of teaching when I started my career in Psychology and the Analytical Chemistry industry. I continuously tried to improve my methadology to arrive at the right mix of stimulation and information to make the learning process as interesting as possible. Teaching the Physics of Xrays and chemical analysis does challenge one to keep assessing the learned content and modify as results indicate. The results of effective teaching and learning start with asking questions about the purpose of the instructions, how will the results of the learning be measured, and what is educational level of the students? During my undergraduate years, I was tutoring a local grade 4 student in math. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience in making a difference in somebody's life. During the last 15 years in my career, I have always been involved in training/teaching/mentoring individuals whether it is a new computer system or helping my direct staff to grow to their full potential.
My style is to teach a concept during the one on one session with me. I then give them homework to reinforce the learning on personal time.
