I would describe my teaching style as dynamic, creative student-centered
I've either taught or tutored in some form or fashion for over 17yrs now. I've had ages 3yrs to 22yrs old covering all manner of subjects and hobbies. One of my most rewarding experience was with an 18 year old special needs 10th grader ready to drop out of school. We met 2-3x a week for 6mths. In that time he raised his GPA from 1.2 to 2.7. He completed his 10th grade year and went on to take and pass the G.E.D. the following year.

I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.

I have two teenage sons, both of whom I have tutored through pre-AP Algebra, the oldest is in pre-Calculus this year. I tend to take a holistic approach, showing "why" the student needs to know the material, and "where" it fits in with other disciplines, instead of just "how" to do it.
When I was in high school, I decided upon attending Oklahoma State University, based upon the fact that OSU sponsored a high school scholastic competition, whereas OU was only known for football. If that does not make me boring enough, I represented my school and placed 8th in the state for Algebra. Not too bad for a small middle-class parochial school. My Physics class had the chance to work with machinery used in vocational careers. I also taught Teacher Cadets, a class for students interested in the field of Education. During the last six-weeks students completed a student teaching experience working with K-12 teachers. My physics students competed in several engineering contests, (paper airplane, egg drop, rubber band car, etc.) which provided several students scholarships.
