A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style may vary depending on the student. I would have to get a feel of what the child like and dislike about the subject he or she is struggling in. I would also want to obtain a list of goals or expectations from the student's parents in order to implement a plan that will aid both the student and I to accomplish the targeted goal. I will implement interesting ways to make the subject fun so that the student can build confidence and enjoy the learning process.
I enjoy teaching others and helping them excel in their studies. I can relate to younger students because I have a six year old who required extensive help in the area of reading. She was one of my greatest achievements because I had to research a way to communicate on her level of understanding and yet make it interesting and fun. While I earned a degree in both history and group social studies, I feel I am well-versed in other areas. I currently work at a charter school in Detroit as a math paraprofessional with freshmen algebra. I also substitute within the school most recently in a college algebra class, so I am familiar with the upper-levels of math. In addition to these skills, I feel I am a very polished writer in terms of grammar and writing style.
