A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style consists of various things. First and foremost, I believe that all children can and will learn. When given the appropriate resources and materials, a safe and nuturing envirmonment and an individual capable and ready to teach the whole child success will then manifest.
I am currently in my 7th year as an Exceptional Children's Teacher. I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.

As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me. That they made me feel great and it really made me enjoy what I did because I helped a lot of the students turn the weaknesses into strengths.
