While in law school, I assisted students enrolled in a summer program with residential advising and subject mentoring/tutoring. The program was offered through CLEO and hosted by Valparaiso with classes being taught by visiting professors from participating schools. The program launched students with passing grades from that program into the study of law by helping them overcome some shortfall in their application. During my time in law school and as a law clerk, I primarily spent my time researching and comprehending laws and regulations, and subsequently writing briefs and memorandum. I have also assisted my three nieces and nephews in their school work and learning. My strengths are reading, comprehension, and writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught in a bi-lingual charter school and worked with students from many diverse ethnic backgrounds I also substituted in my off-track time for ESL instructors and Special-Ed students with learning disabilities. Each year I taught I attended special seminars on reading development and literature.
I enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I received an award for classroom management, and work well with students who are learning English as a second language. I believe all children have the potential to excel if given the opportunity. I believe that attitude and approach create the climate in a classroom. I believe that learning is growth and not accumulation. I also believe a student must believe a teacher cares before they will care what a teacher knows. It is also important for a teacher to help a student develop positive self-esteem.
