As a chemistry graduate student, I have held the following roles: Senior Teaching Assistant for Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Labs, Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry Major's Labs, Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry I and II. I have extensive experience in tutoring; however I specialize in organic chemistry due to my background and teaching style. I have tutored individually, in groups, and even whole classrooms. I have substituted as a teacher for organic chemistry professors. While planning for a career in medicine, I obtained a BS in biology with a minor in Chemistry. During the application and acceptance process I was an adjunct faculty member at a local technical college. My courses taught were remedial Algebra, biology, and anatomy and physiology. During the hours between classes I was a paid Tutor in the college's learning assistance center.
I wouldn't have a "professional" description for teaching style as my education was solidly based in the sciences. However, I believe that by teaching intuitive thought processes and critical thinking skills, students can easily adapt to the tasks given be they in science or liberal arts.
