My comments on tutoring Spanish : I studied Spanish for two years in highschool, but ended up living in Spain for three (3) years.

I have 12 years experience working with the Russian language. I spent two years in school learning the language and then 10 years in the field using it! I spent 3 years in Spain working with the Russian language as a Russian analyst. I also gained invaluable experience working on Naval vessels and intercepting live Russian language from Russian/Soviet Naval ships. This experience was invaluable. During my two (2) years in school, Russian is the only subject we took. I studied 4 hours a night and ended up graduating with honors from the course in Monterey, Ca. From there, I was sent to Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo, Tx. There I studied the military version of the Russian language. I also did very well at that school. I then gained another 10 years of experience with the Russian language with the U.S. Navy intelligence.

Each individual learns in a different manner. Some students are visual learners, while others are better served by a hands-on environment. Using varied instructional strategies is a technique I have practiced when working with students who are struggling with a particular concept or subject matter. The key to learning is to be engaged in and excited about the learning process. If a student is struggling with a particular subject, establishing a connection to that subject is essential. I have always been an overacheiver in school. I believe in education and I am constantly trying to learn something. My tutoring experience has been limited to tutoring Spanish. I am also very well read and have extensive experience in the business world.
I think that a good educator is the key to success in a child's life. I can still remember my second grade teacher (Ms. Golf), she made learning fun and seemed like everyday was an adventure in her class. Sadly, not all teachers are like that. I do believe that all children learn in different ways. I think that if a child is given a chance and shown some patience, there isn't anything they can't acheive. Children should be guided in learning. They have short attention spans and I think learning should be made fun in order to hold their attention. Many teachers will say the same thing, that they love teaching and it is only outside factors that will disrupt a class and make it difficult for some students to learn. I delight in helping students to acquire new knowledge and there is satisfaction in having students thank the teacher after a class. I like to work with small groups and encourage these groups to explore and teach each other from my leading. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life.
