A Little Bit About Me...

I have a B.A. in Accounting as I have a great passion for the financial world. I have always LOVED math as I feel it gives me a great sense of accomplishment when I am able to take a problem that I've been given and find a solution. I have a strong desire to pass this on to others. I have been working in Outdoor Education for the past year and a half. I spent 7 months living and working at a boarding school. Numerous studies have shown that children have different learning styles. I believe that tailoring to a student’s individual style is the most effective way to teach. Consequently, the first session will be spent in identifying your child’s unique style. Before tutoring begins, I like to sit down with the parents and student to identify educational goals. Once goals and learning styles are identified, it is easy to come up with an individualized study plan for your child.

With my years of being around and in an educational environment, I have picked up patterns of repetition and summary to reinforce ideas being conveyed. I, myself, learn best by doing. Through studying adult learning styles, I discovered that studies show utilizing all facets of learning - writing, audio, visual, and hands on - leads to the highest levels of retention.
