I graduated from Adams State College in 2004 with a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and an Emphasis in Literacy. I was a substitute teacher for grades K-5 for one semester. I began teaching Third Grade in the Fall of 2005. I taught all general subjects as a Third Grade teacher for 4 years. I also have experience as a Fifth Grade reading teacher. Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.

When I was attending Regis University, I started majoring in English and minoring in Education. I student taught and tutored two days out of the week for four hours for two and a half consecutive semesters. I absolutely enjoyed working with the students, it was the teachers that had me hang up my hat in that field. I would hear the teachers complain and witness them not helping the students with their %110. This was very disheartening. It made me think that teaching would become a job for me, and not a satisfaction of fulfilling students own dreams. My trigonometry teacher had me substitute teach his college algebra and trigonometry courses for him while he away. This was some of the most satisfying work I have ever done. When a student finally understood what I was explaining it was like you could see the light come on in their head.
