Graphic Design graduate. Need help? I'm your guy.

Between my time at Burlington County College and Rutgers, I have been studying graphic design for seven years. I have always been the creative-thinking type, and making art since I could hold a pencil. Being a graphic designer presents a lot of real world problems (client expectations, old software, crashing programs, up-saving or down-saving files between different design versions etc.) and I have solved enough of these problems to know what to expect and when to expect and just how to handle it.
I'm not better than you; we're equals. I'm just a tutor helping you understand a problem. I don't condescend, or insult, or expect a perfect outcome the first time. If my teachers hadn't shown me patience and understanding when I had trouble, I would have been too discouraged to want to continue. I want to relate the information to something the student can understand, and I am certainly ... read more

Let's make it happen!

I'm a recent graduate so I'm very fresh and up to date on technical skills as well as trending design. I've mentored many of my peers at school as I like to help my friends and they seek me out because of my reputation as a good designer. I still get called back to help even though I've since graduated. The best help I can offer is art direction as far as finishing pieces and preparing a body of work for your portfolio. My technical expertise is in Illustrator, Indesign and Photoshop, in that order. I'm also able to help with web design, CSS3 and HTML5.
Very casual! I've signed up as a tutor just so I can meet some new people and because I genuinely like to help others. I also find working with another designer, even someone just starting out, very inspiring. I definitely want to establish a peer-to-peer dynamic rather than a teacher-student one.

More About This Tutor...

My policy is to always find out what my tutees' needs are, so I often will ask questions to determine what s/he wants to get out of our lessons together and how I can best provide it. One thing that I bring to the table that native Japanese speakers may not is experience in struggling with the language. So I know, for instance, some of the grammar patterns Japanese learners find difficult because I mostly likely was in the same boat at one point or another. I also try to make it fun, again, according to need but, rest assured, I am very serious about getting the points across and making sure there is full comprehension on your part!
I have been tutoring Japanese at the beginning and intermediate level for nearly 5 months now and thoroughly enjoy it. In the past, I designed a 5-week introductory course to the Japanese language for a summer college prep program and instructed high sc ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I did a three-month internship the summer after my junior year of high school with CenterPage Inc., a graphic design company that sparked my interest in graphic design. I then started taking classes with a local graphic designer, of which I continued to take until I graduated high school. The summer after my freshman year of college, I helped to develop/start a Graphic Design Program at my high school. I helped teach the first set of classes and was the person of contact for the Guidance Department for any student that wanted to pursue graphic design. Since the program fully launched, I have hosted multiple portfolio reviews for high school juniors and seniors pursing visual communication fields, speak annually at my school's career day, and do a presentation about graphic design to all art classes every spring. The spring and summer terms of my sophomore year, I studied architec ... read more

Absolutamente en español

Everyone has the ability to learn a second language, and even become fluent at it. There aren't people who have a special given talent for it, it is something that is learned; learned through listening, writing, reading, and MOST importantly SPEAKING. This is the fear most of us have when learning a second language. Our fears hold us back from REALLY learning the language because we are afraid to SPEAK the language. I will help you develop the confidence you need to really learn Spanish. Here's a good question to help you understand what I mean: Did you first learn to read, write or speak as a child? EXACTLY RIGHT! We all learn to speak as children first. But we learn to speak because we listen. Then we make associations with words and the physical things around us. This is the method I use to teach my students at the University, and how I taught my high school students. I am ... read more
