I began teaching private piano and oboe lessons around 1970 and continued it as time permitted until the present. It is enjoyable and rewarding to see someone work hard and feel with them the joy of their success. I have played all the instruments to varying degrees to be able to teach them. When I began substitute teaching in the 1990s I was able to teach almost every subject on every level. My strengths are reading, mathematics (including algebra and geometry), English, grammar, Spanish, and of course music. I am a very adaptable teacher--I can easily pick up on a student's needs and abilities, and work to their strengths in that way. I enjoy not only helping them learn, but also their backstory and considering how it affects their learning style. I also have an innate love of learning, and feel that it's a great gift to help someone realize their own potential. During my undergrad studies at UWRF, I was sponsored to become a tutor in the Writing Center on campus. There was a prerequisite practicum, but it was very hands-on learning. I recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin River Falls with a BS in Marketing Communications. My minor area of study while at River Falls was Psychology, and over the course of my college career, my interest in the topic has developed into a career goal.
