No person learns identically to anyone else, therefore I approach pupils from their learning styles. I engage them, finding out what methods have worked and get a quick generalized understanding of how they learn. Students who struggle with learning may just be not interested in what is being taught. Education does not stop with books. I incorporate "real life" experiences with the material being presented. I try to make the subject fun and meaningful to the student. My classes are run with volunteer participation. (They "jump and do" at the board.) I enjoy helping others and watching the lightbulbs come on with whatever level of student I am working with. I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details.
