I have been in many tutoring sessions myself helping wise and observation wise, because I've been wanting to tutor for a while now. I have been on high and regular honor role many times. All through 7th and 6th grade, and now 8th. I get amazing grades and believe in hard work is the key to success and that asking for help in the long run is not wrong at all,no ones perfect. Not even me. I want to be able to help kids as much as to my ability, to help lead then to success and making sure they know it's never wrong to ask for a little help if needed. I am a hard working person end in the process of being the best i can be. I do tutor kids at my school or friends when they ask or nedd it. My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I enjoy working with students with dyslexia. I have found that all students are gifted regardless of any special needs, and students with dyslexia are no exception. These kids need help with study skills, work habits, fine motor skills, organization, and social skills, as well as interest/career direction and testing.I have worked with curriculum such as Touch Math, Step Up to Writing, Explode the Code, Saxon Phonics, Dolch, and Handwriting Without Tears. Using these and other curriculums, I have had great success with these gifted students.

15 years of teaching children with special needs has given me a great understand of what your child needs. I have a passion for teaching and love to work with all students, seeing results in growth of self esteem, knowledge and the meeting of their potential. I have 15 years' experience in the special education field. Since I started my career, I have learned the art of communication and the ability to work with students of all ages, parents, and staff in consulting and educational interaction. I have a Master's degree in special education and hold both my clear Level 2 mild/moderate special education credential and my multiple teaching credential, as well as my autism authorization. Over the years I have found that the best learning and the best teaching is done on an individualized basis, and so I have decided to continue my career as a one-on-one tutor.

I have spent the last three year being a nanny and tutor for kids in a variety of age groups. I have worked with all kinds of kids including special needs children, group home kids, High school students in AP classes, and Dyslexic children. I also have taught swim and Flute lessons in the past. I really enjoy working with children and, form my experience, children really enjoy working with me.
I find it's best to get to know each child individually before picking a teaching style to use. Most of my students have been successful because I mold me tutoring plans around their individual needs

More About This Tutor...

I earned my Bachelors of Fine Arts in 2003 and I have taught creative writing, theatre, playwriting, and acting since then. In 2005, I gained my substitute teacher credential and have taught all around Sacramento, substituting for teachers in all subjects. I also write plays and poems. I have always had an interest and talent for teaching kids. I have taught kids from one on one, all the way to audiences of 300. I have also worked as a nanny for 10 years, so I know what kids are into, what they like, and how to get them to respond.
I believe that kids learn better when they are enjoying themselves and sometimes even having fun! I try to make the things they are learning interesting and entertaining. If a child does not want to learn, they won't, by adding fun into the equation, you have created the desire to learn in that child. I am very patient and easy-going, but I also know whe ... read more

I love learning, and try to impart its joy to all I encounter. Much of that joy is realized by my students in developing and mastering needed and wanted skills. It is a further delight to me that so many of my students do “turn on” admirably as they realize progress in academic spheres they previously found discouragingly challenging. The variety of approaches I have mastered in presenting materials and individualizing practice makes my service as a learning guide perfect for the previously-frustrated student. I love learning, and I never give up on anyone!
Individualizing English grammar, composition, and lit. instruction became a teaching strength during 12 years in secondary schools. Skills for ELLs were honed by nine years at a Japanese university. A Little Bit About Me...

I was taught at a early age to be the best I possibly could. I was taught to do my best. That has stuck with me all the way through college. I have earned a BS degree in Communication which has given me a knowledge of how to write effectively. I took an editing course which focused on the fundamentals of writing along with correct editing skills. I have had the opportunity to teach individuals in their home while serving a church mission for two years. Also within my church I have taught children the doctrinal basics of the church.
Teaching children is a passion of mine. They soak in the knowledge like a sponge. I am patient, easy going, but also know the task at hand. I try to find the best way to teach that individual child. Every child learns in a different way. I seek to find that way. Since I learn best in a hands-on manner I try to teach that same way.

I have been teaching for over 20 years. I believe that they key to good teaching is connecting the lesson to the studnet's lives. If you can make it interesting and relevent to the people then you will be a much more effective teacher. When you teache history connect othe present. For example, when a teach about the plague I compare it to aids. This way students can understand what it was like for the people whoi went through having the plague and not only were they dying but they were condemmed as well. Good teaching is cnnecting to your studnets.
