Hands on. Using a board to explain concepts and then letting student take a try. Most students learn better by doing.
Chemistry tutor at local learning center. All of my students received a passing final grade ( so far)! I taught 19 courses of biology/anatomy to undergraduate students at ECU. This was the most joyful time in my career. I've discovered that chemistry is difficult because teachers only teach one way. It begins to click when a student hears the same info from a different perspective.

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style ultimately depends of the student. I work much better with an individual or small group than with a class because I can find the angle that works best for each student. For younger children, I like to make learning into different games to keep their attention. For older students, I think it is important to establish some level of confidence early on within a subject so that they do not get too discouraged while new material is presented.
I have always had a good ability in math and sciences. I obtained a BA in Psychology from the University of Rochester, with a minor in Brain and Cognitive Sciences. The first thing that I try to do is get to know my client, mainly focusing on what they both like and dislike about school. Then we narrow it down even further to the subject that they are having problems in. I ask them what they think the problem is, find out what the school/teacher thinks the problem is (through review of their coursework including past homework and tests) and come up with a solution that will benefit the student, teacher, and parent to improve and fix the situation.
