Engineering student at UMD, well versed in many subjects.

I am currently enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, in my junior year studying mechanical engineering. Prior to my studies at UMD, I took several classes at Frederick Community College, while in high school. While on my way to this level, I have taken many interesting classes and seen both effective and ineffective methods of communicating the critical content of these subjects. I am very familiar with both high school and college level math and science, and still use many of those principles in my current studies. I am a one on one mentor/role model/teacher that explains problems in a fashion to the students understanding. Math is often very hard for people to understand because they can't apply it to real world situations. I take the problems and teach the student how to see the problem in the easiest way for them. I also believe on hands on learning so I will explain the problem, show them how to do it, then have them try it until they full understand it.
I attended ASU where I had an excellent tutor in chemistry that took me as a math/stats tutor under his wing. I learned great personal tutoring techniques and tutored a range of students from middle school to college. I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension. I am currently volunteer tutoring an adult friend in general math and I am proud to say that her understanding of the basic principles have increased dramatically in only a couple of sessions.
