MATH TUTORING AT ITS BEST!

My goals in teaching are not just to promote learning of the subject matter. I also try to help the students learn to think critically and logically, learn problem-solving methods and techniques, and improve writing skills (writing clearly and concisely, explaining step-by-step processes, providing valid reasons for logical arguments). I try to help students see the course material in a holistic context by requiring them to synthesize the various concepts of the course by applying them together. In addition, I try to let students realize the interrelatedness of math to other disciplines and how certain techniques learned can be used in a daily setting.

30 Years of Hands On Accounting Experience

I have been a Controller for the past 8 years with small-to-midsize manufacturing companies. During the preceding 8 years I was an ERP consultant working primarily with manufacturing and distribution companies, implementing accounting, distribution and manufacturing software. Prior to that I worked as an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, Cost Manager, Cost Analyst and Accounting Systems Analyst in a variety of companies and industries. Provided below are some of my accomplishments during the above employment: 1. Transformed accounting departments with poor systems, procedures, polices and staff into efficient, well-performing teams able to meet deadlines and provide value-added services to company managers. 2. Enabled companies to maximize the value of the ERP systems by combining the information available with analytical tools like report writers, and data query tools to prov ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I've been teaching college and high school level mathematics for over 6 years. I have been tutoring math and sciences over a decade. I've worked as a Statistician private contractor for about a year for Hospira and Partners BHM, and I worked in math education software design for about a year as a content editor and tester.
I try to alleviate math anxiety, and introduce thoughtfulness as a way to solve problems. I teach how to understand math rather than just mimicking the behavior of the teacher. Math is about putting two and two together more than it is about learning how to add and subtract. If you would like to contact me it's probably best to call or text me as I may not see messages on here. 704 300 1027

My comments on tutoring Algebra I : Algebra is the foundation of higher mathematics. After studying calculus and better learning how functions operate, algrebra is easy for me to explain.

I like students to understand how the material they are learning can and is being applied to everyday situations. So I often will talk about the big topics that have been covered explain why they are useful and then show the student how to perform various calculations or apply the nessecary logic to solve problems.

Tutored in all subjects ranging from College Algebra to Calculus while a student at Mitchell Community College.
