A Little Bit About Me...

As a history major, I have a desire to learn more and teach more about the past. I have learned so much about the present through studying the past. I have written numerous papers and completed projects while in college. These will help me to teach students how to organize, prepare, and excel in history.
I believe in teaching according to the curriculum. However, I will also pull in information from other historical and academic sources that will enhance the student's learning experience. I believe in allowing the student to prove their capabilities by allowing them to demonstrate their knowledge in different ways. I believe students should take exams but they are not the only way I test students understanding of the material.

Although I am not certified to teach, I have taken quite a few teaching curriculum courses while attending North Carolina State University. I have the ability to teach and accomodate different learning styles with various age groups from the Pre-K level to high school ranging from elementary students to adults. While earning my Masters in Accounting, I voluntarily tutored Undergrad students that were earning their Associates or Bachelors in Accounting. The students were enrolled in the local community college (Central Carolina Tech) as well as the University of South Carolina. I have earned an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters which all have concentration in Accounting.
I tutor based on the individual's learning needs. I have encountered some that were visual learners ad everything had to be drawn/written out. I have also tutored students that can have me explain it and they grasp it easily. My teaching style changes according to the needs of the student because not every one learns the same. I do believe Accounting is a complex field and the student has to have an interest in the field to truly be successful in retaining what they are taught.
