A Little Bit About Me...

When I first work with a student, I like to get to know the method of teaching that they have already experienced from their math teacher. This allows me to know what sort of methods and teaching styles they student has already been exposed to and thus allow me to elimnate strategies that do not work. Being in sync with the student's teacher is very important. I work very hard to make sure that I am teaching them in a way that they can relate to. I understand how frustrating not being able to grasp something can be, so I make a great effort to be very patient. My goal in tutoring is to help the student enjoy mathematics as much as I have.

In tutoring math, the individual needs to have their homework present and, if available, old/recent tests so they may learn from the past as well as the present. Math adds unto itself, so understanding previous rules and equations are necessary for applying them to future classes. Once the basics are covered properly, seeing to the need for current classes will become much easier and enjoyable.
