Learn while having fun. My methods achieve results.

Held Study 2 hour sessions with over 10 students 3-5 times per week in Engineering Schools. Classes included: Calculus 1 & 2, Statics and Dynamics. Also did indivdual sessions. Was highly recommended and considered the best tutoror i Engineering. Have been a financial adivisor so I have held many seminars and had many face to face with clients teaching them about money. Have privately tutored friends and reletives for years. The result has always brought As.
Very relaxed fun. Making the student feel comfortable and letting them figure the solution out on their own with as little imput as possible. Sort of like spotting in weighlifting. I also focus on a holistic method which is about understanding the problem with as little memorization is possible. The idea is if you can understand the concept then it is very easy to apply the answer with very little modification.

I have a year of experience working as a Peer Facilitator at New Mexico State University where I was responsible for grading papers, tutoring, facilitating biology workshops, and hosting exam review sessions for lower level undergraduate biology courses. My first two years of teaching were as an intern with the University of New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. I taught 8th grade Math full time at a large public middle school. The next year I continued the same position and added on an after school tutoring program for all grade levels. I then took a position teaching 6,7&8 grade Math at an alternative school for students with severe discipline issues. This was a small setting with classes no larger than 12. I was able to spend a lot of time one-on-one with the students and develop personalized lesson plans that fit their needs and learning styles.

As an Associate Research Professor at Duke University I conducted research on the health of the elderly population and the genetic background to age-related diseases. As a teacher, I try to understand the student's mind in order to present the material in such a way that it will fit together with the student's preexisting knowledge. I believe that children learn best when the material is most tangible to them. When teaching or tutoring, I make a huge effort to incorporate the students' names into math problems. I make it my goal to find out as much as I can about the students, and then put them in those environments in an imaginative way in some sort of math problem. I am extremely patient with my students, and appreciate gaining knowledge from their statements and insights. When appropriate, manipulatives are wonderful tools as well.
