Do you need an advanced tutor?

My teaching style depends on the student, it is adaptable. Some people are more visual, others are more lecture type, it all depends on the person.
Experience tutoring MS, PhD, post-doctoral, or resident-interns in the medical field. I also have tutored established PE type engineers and MBAs for executive type presentations. Have tutored high school and undergrad as well. The teaching style is adaptable, but I prefer tutor either in a university library, coffee house, or classroom environment.

A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in high school, I decided upon attending Oklahoma State University, based upon the fact that OSU sponsored a high school scholastic competition, whereas OU was only known for football. If that does not make me boring enough, I represented my school and placed 8th in the state for Algebra. Not too bad for a small middle-class parochial school. Naturally enough, I was the best at my school. When I finally went to OSU, I studied Electrical Engineering, obtaining a Master's degree. How did I get to Texas? -- Texas Instruments of course!
I have two teenage sons, both of whom I have tutored through pre-AP Algebra, the oldest is in pre-Calculus this year. I tend to take a holistic approach, showing "why" the student needs to know the material, and "where" it fits in with other disciplines, instead of just "how" to do it.

I have a few years experience teaching in the Air Force. I also have an extensive background in engineering, statistics and math in general. While in the Air Force I was an instructor for the Space Operations School in Colorado Springs. This gave me the opportunity to go through many classes on how to instruct various types of students. Even though I taught adults, I am also very comfortable teaching children. I also have been an engineer most of my career so I have experience with real world math problems. I have never tutored as a job but did take and pass all the testing required to become a high school and middle school math teacher in Texas (TExES).
I have five children of my own and spend many hours helping them with school work. I have found that patience and repetition in many cases are very good paths to success. I do not believe in becoming frustrated with childre ... read more

I think that not any person can teach. Because, teaching is not only delievering the scientific information to the student; it supports the students with self estem and confidence and help them achieve their educational and personal goals. An effective teacher is the teacher who enjoy teaching and makes the student enjoy learning, and who knew that the children pass in many developmentall, cognitive, emotional, physical, and social stages, and who tries to understand these changes in every age.
I am a graduate student working on my masters degree in education. I am highly motivated to teach divere students of all ages and students from all cultures. Teaching for me is something I love as one of my children because I enjoy watching students learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

Educating students academically, socially and morally is my passion. I truly believe that all students, regardless of race, age, gender, socioeconomic status, grade level performance etc. can achieve because I've seen it first hand with myself and with those I work with. I believe that structure and having a firm grasp and understanding of the content being taught is important but it is just as important to be able to bring the content alive and make it relevant to your students.
I tutored while attending East Central University focusing on academics (Math/Reading) but I incorporated a moral and ethical component that was just as necessary.I followed a lesson plan that was created around the state requirements and added my own creativity and relevance.I have been a tutor and academic mentor with the AVID program for two years. All academic tutoring and probing is conducted through ... read more
