Elementary Math is one of my top subjects! As an Elementary school teacher, this is the only subject I taught. I would say 85%-90% of my kids would always come out with a lot of knowledge at the end of the year.

Ex-classroom school teacher with 10 years plus experience!

My teaching style is one that always tries to relate to the child and to have fun. Does the child enjoy video games, dinosaurs, soccer, dance, or a particular cartoon character? When I discover what it is the child enjoys, I bring that element into the subject we are learning about. If the child likes soccer and struggles in reading, I research about famous soccer players and find books on them. Perhaps, at the end of a teaching session, we go outside and kick the soccer ball for 5 minutes as a source of inspiration to get work completed. Bringing in other ways of learning through play and games is also something I enjoy. Playing simple math games or reading games is a easy way to teach a child, without them realizing they are learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I'm certified in both elementary general and special education. I've taught for the past 19 years. My comments on tutoring Elementary Math : I love teaching math using a variety of strategies to insure mastery. Math is actually fun to teach and learn (if taught well)!

I treat children with the same respect and dignity that I treat adults, regardless of their age. I don't use "baby voices," as my goal is to elevate them to their highest academic levels.
