Experience throughout school, work and personal experience dealing with the mentally challenged and dyslexia. my best friend had a son who was dyslexic and also he had ADD and I got him to trust me in babysitting and I taught him various things. I taught him how to read and write he could not accomplish that on his own. He was 11 at the time and I think with kids you have to be creative to teach them and I am very creative. I believe you can only help the student learn if you are willing to take time to "bend down" to their understanding and help lift them up. With a Master's degree in counseling, I have had various experience working with youth on a clinical level. Before going into counseling I was on track to become a high school math teacher. I have taken courses up through Calculus III and Number Theory. I feel very capable in this area. I also am an avid and good creative and technical writer. I believe that children all come with different levels of cognition. Therefore, each child has their own learning pace. I like to give a child the time that he needs in order to accomplish his goal in learning. I recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Human Development. However, before Human Development was my major, it was English Language. As I prepared for Medical School, I wanted to achieve the most possible out of my undergraduate experience at Brigham Young University. I chose Biology as my major, knowing that it would challenge me. I took several courses in Biology and Chemistry in which I performed very well. While pursuing my own studies in college, I realized that I not only love learning but that I love to increase learning in others as well. Because of this, I spent many hours throughout college volunteering to tutor calculus and chemistry students.
