A Little Bit About Me...

As an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, I became a minority affairs mentor. I did a science education internship with COSI in 2002. I also worked summers with the Columbus Department of Recreation and Sports as a camp leader. I I also spent 2 summers as a high school band camp instructor/counselor. After obtaining my B.S. in Biology from The Ohio State University, I became an early childhood education teacher, completing several certifications. Afterwards, I relocated and accepted a position as a junior high school algebra and geometry night school teacher. I also worked as a SAT prep instructor. After program closure, I worked 5 yrs as a contract microbiologist for Procter & Gamble.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an English major, I spent all 4 years at my private instutition tutoring my fellow students, not only in English and writing courses, but in all academic classes in which I had received a grade of "A" or "B". 3 of my 4 years at Lindsey Wilson were spent in the Education department, as I originally wanted to be a high school English teacher. I also spent several summers as a Camp Counselor, working with children aged 7-15 as well.
I like to determine my teaching style by first evaluating a child's current progress and learning style. Learning is a very individualized process, therefore, teaching must also be individual. I am a relaxed person, and I like to find a way to relate material to a child in a way that he/she will not only understand, but retain. A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a music teacher for 10 years, and I spent one year working as a Title I paraprofessional. As a music teacher, my focus is on music literacy and appreciation. I strongly believe that every child has the right to a quality music education. As a Title I para, I worked with individual and small groups of K-6 students in the areas of reading, writing, and math.
A wonderful characteristic of music is that learning and experiencing music addresses all three main learning styles--visual, aural, and kinesthetic. Students enjoy my class, and it is wonderful to see what they remember long after they have been in my class. I also enjoy working with talented and gifted students to help them realize their potential.
