A Little Bit About Me...

Every student is different. They all have different experiences and learning styles. Sometimes teachers can just try to explain concepts and ideas the way that they understand things. I like to first ask students questions to help me understand where they are, what they specifically do and do not understand. This helps me to figure out how to help the student. Also in my experience, teachers teach only one method of solving a specific problem and that way may not be easy for that student. I like to explain many methods so the student can choose the method he or she understands. Every student can achieve academic success. They just need someone who understands how they learn in order push them forward and give them the confidence they need.

I have taught in many different formats in both mathematics and physics. At Purdue University, I ran a physics laboratory class as well as did tutoring in a help center for physics. Afterwords I have also taught for ITT Tech where I taught an online physics course; IvyTech where I am currently teaching an algebra course; and the princeton review where I am teaching Physics for MCAT Students. Finally, I have done some at home tutoring for individuals in mathematics.

As a student, I tutored a variety of math subjects (Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, etc.) to fellow university students. Collectively, I have over five years of experience tutoring math. In August 2010, I earned two bachelor degrees, a BS in Mathematics and a BA in English, from the University of North Texas. In addition to my tutoring experience, I recently began teaching math at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, IN.
