My comments on tutoring Chess : Will need to brush up myself, so we'll learn together!

One on One is the ideal method for me as it allows time dedicated to the tutored. It makes them feel special and appreciated and also allows time for coaching and motivation.
My experience in Tutoring is a bit fleeting only having done it in odds and ends; non-professionally at best, but as I see progress in others, it inspires ME to grow. Also knowing that I have helped in some small part further encourages me to help out more. I don't have any track record to speak of but I what I hope to provide for those under my wing is a chance to believe, as motivator Les Brown would say, "It's Possible that I can succeed!" THAT'S what students REALLY need to know.

A Little Bit About Me...

At this point in my professional career, I currently do not have any experience teaching in a formal classroom environment. However, my experience does extend into performance education, as I have three years experience working for the Denver Museum of Nature and Science in which I increased participation of general visitor and school audiences in gallery programs by performing in educational demonstrations and facilitating hands-on experiences. This included presentations in astronomy, biology and earth sciences.
I find that students have their own unique style of learning. I also believe that by establishing a solid set of study skills while catering to individual techniques of the student, the learning process can grow and thrive. Therefore, I would combine my training in theatre and performance to make learning an enjoyable process. I have a very kind and patient disposit ... read more

I became a teacher because I enjoy mentoring and helping others attain their goals. I have a passion for Mathematics, Software technology and Business applications of either or both subjects. I offer a pupil the twin goals of attaining the competence and character needed to succeed in their chosen field. I demonstrate the need for teacher and student to operate with empathy and active listening while we support each other in mastery of our tasks. My colleagues and principals normally appreciate my suggestions for improving “best practices “. I am an innovator with a passion for excellence. I believe in most fields one needs to attain the stage of good before one seeks better. I shall continue to focus on gaining a greater, more empathetic participation by all in social as well as learning interactions in my classroom. The student needs to assess themselves, and make a commitment to acqui ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My first teaching experience involved establishing a Title I Kindergarten classroom. Since that first few months of teaching, I have loved working with children at the kindergarten level and teaching them the basics of learning to read and prepare them for 1st grade. I have taken several classes from different universities in teaching reading and methods of teaching. I am a retired teacher, but continue to work with children through volunteer work.
I love working with children and am able to communicate with most in a way that produces a secure and encouraging environment. I am patient, easy going, and respect each child's right to express himself in an appropriate way. I believe each child can learn if he is given the appropriate materials, methods, and teacher for his style of learning.

I have grown up wanting to be a teacher. I love children and I love teaching them. Being able to help a child learn something new that will stay with them for the rest of their lives is very rewarding. I strive to make sure that I am reaching every student in my classroom. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a heart to help others become the best that they can be. For the last 2 1/2 years, I have been taking in troubled teens into my home and being directly involved in coaching them to turn their lives around. I was rigorously trained with hands on experience in the Parenting Workshop Institute, and now am not only a life coach to youth, but to their parents as well. I have been trained to learn and work with all personality styles and to coach others how to get along, tolerate, and understand other personality styles with patience, kindness and love.
Because I had such a hard time learning and focusing in a regimented, institutional-type learning setting in school, and yet was a brilliant child, I teach extremely well in a relational more relaxed approach. Rather than "shove information down throats" I am interested in each individual, and to get to know their perso ... read more

I enjoy teaching kids as it also gives me an opportunity to learn a lot from them. In a way by asking doubts they make me think in a different way thereby improving my skills also. I believe that each child has it in him/her to achieve great heights, and sometimes they require a tutor to give them the push to achieve it. I strongly believe that I can give the push they need and make them achieve their goals in life.

A Little Bit About Me...

My experience consists of tutoring college students in the subject areas I learned for a Bachelors degree in Health Science. This consists of: General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Physiology, Anatomy, and Biology. I also have experience teaching children soccer. I played collegiate soccer and I was involved in many soccer camps teaching children the basic skills of soccer as well as communication and self-esteem. I now have been accepted to teach adults at the Church I go to. This is on Thursdays and my title is volunteer teacher.
The teaching style I have is really a mix of all styles. I was exposed to teaching classes as an undergraduate student. One class really taught me the importance of building a teaching style with all of the learning styles involved. Whether it is visual, kinesthetic, audio, or reading, a good teacher will take the time to incorporate all ... read more

More About This Tutor...

Because of my strong interest in education, I am changing my career field from computer programming to teaching or tutoring. I obtained my second master's degree in Secondary Education two months ago (December 2008), along with teacher certification in Mathematics and Physics. My student teaching experience was at Paradise Valley High School, where I assumed full responsibility for two math classes. While working on my MEd and before this my BS in Physics (May 2007), I tutored math, physics, and astronomy for two years (both high school and college students). I also have BA and MA degrees in Mathematics. While working on these degrees, I taught college math and computer classes part-time for four years, and tutored math for one year. I was named TRiO Tutor of the Year at ASU West in 2008.
I love both teaching and tutoring. It is a joy to me to be able to help students learn. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love working with children and adults, and I have taught all types of students from very different backgrounds. I understand that each person has a different way of learning and understanding. It is important to teach each individual in the way she or he best receives the material. I attribute much of my success in teaching with the fact that I make learning fun and interesting rather a burden. I find that students learn better when they are at ease and when they enjoy what they are learning. Education is very important to me. It is rewarding each time I can see I have made a difference.

I have a policy with my students, which I call the three L's: Look, Listen, and Learn. When I teach, I expect them to learn, and I therefore have to make it interesting enough for them to want to do just that. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste." Children's minds are like sponges, and one has to make sure the information is good. I try to educate in a way that will help them to read, relate, and realize. I want to be the teacher my students want to remember!
I have much experience in tutoring and teaching. I have tutored right from the time I was in college, and taught in the past and present. I have held other jobs, but have always been drawn to teaching like a magnet. I do believe teaching is my forte! More About This Tutor...

I believe that the possibilities of learning are incredible, especially with understanding the tools of both teaching and learning whether that is textbooks, computers, or something else. It is important to ascertain how a student learns, and adjust to them. I’ve discovered in my teaching of children that it is critical to create a foundation of understanding then build upon it through repetition of the basic ideals while adding to what is already established. Children are amazingly open to new ideas, and take on new challenges with excitement, so it is my job as instructor to guide them in their journey. I also feel that early learning is fundamental to the way individuals learn later in life, so helping children learn how to overcome obstacles becomes a way of expanding their educational possibilities.
Throughout my higher educational career, I’ve been driven to learn as much ... read more
