I love to teach whether its for fun or helping.
I am attending school for early childhood degree. Working with children and others have always been apart of me. Throughout school I am always helping and tutoring someone. Teaching someone something that I already know and something they should know or what to know makes me happy. I substitute before and volunteer my time a lot with daycare, Boys and Girls Club, after school programs, and even at church. I later taught high school social studies at Mount Vernon, HS in Mount Vernon, NY where I also tutored after school. When trying to reach youth (especially with school work they are not particularly excited about), I have found the best strategy is to first find out where they stand with the subject. This typically involves taking the first session to find out a little about the student, what excites and interests them, and what subjects they do or do not like and why. Then it is best to "test" them to see where they are on the subject they need help with. Once I have identified where they are as a student, I can use my knowledge of who they are to relate the subject matter to things they are interested in, thereby increasing the possibility for learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children and was a Teaching Assistant in New York. My class was small so this gave me a chance to work one-on-one with the students in order to give each child the attention they needed. Some of my duties included preparing lesson plans as well as teaching the lessons to the special needs children.
