Genetics is one of my top subjects! A large component of my graduate research utilized population genetics to answer fisheries questions.

I successfully completed a B.S. in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston in 2004. During my undergraduate career I was able to participate in a research cruise at sea and conduct independent research. I later worked for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, Marine Resources Division, conducting research in a variety of fields including mariculture and stock enhancement. In 2006 I began the graduate program in Marine Biology at the College of Charleston. While there, I taught two semesters of Molecular Biology Lab as a Teaching Assistant. After I completed high school with a 4.0 GPA I was hired at a professional tutoring school. There I worked for nearly 10 years with a loyal student base many of whom I taught the entire time. I taught kids from when they were in elementary school all the way until high school. Some students were ineligible to go to normal school so I was their only teacher for years. A Little Bit About Me...

Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience. Over six summers, I worked with two summer camps to teach various physical and academic curricula to grade groups K-5, 6-8, 9-12. In graduate school, I was given the opportunity to spearhead a class of undergraduates, splitting lecture time with the professor. I am currently writing my thesis (under review of faculty) to be published on the "Architectural History of NC State University and the Areas Surrounding" it. As an Exstension Safety Specialist, I have had the opportunity to provide youth and adults with needed information to effect a positive change in their lives. Many of the programs involving these clients were requested by the recipients based upon their needs. It was my responsibility to develop various ways for them to reach their goals.
I love to involve children in learning exciting and useful information. I use many different ways, sometimes just talking and gleaning what is on their minds, then planning learning experiences that address these topics. I strive to reach all of my students as they try to gain useful information.
