Geography is one of my top subjects! I have always had a keen interest in world geography

Achieved a vast array of educational experience as a substitute teacher by working in all grade levels and in all subjects including special education. Experiences gained in the following school districts: Algonac, Brown City, Carsonville-Port Sanilac Croswell-Lexington, East China, Marysville, Peck, Port Huron and Sandusky. Guest Teaching for four weeks from November 26, 2012 thru December 21, 2012 for Jeff Downs. Classes covered; 7th grade Geography, 8th grade U.S History, 9th grade U.S. History and 10th grade World History. All classes are mixed with both EI and CI special education students with no special education co-teacher in the classroom. Consistently ate lunch in cafeteria with students to interact, gain insight and develop rapport.

I first look to see what kind of learner the student is, whether he/she is a visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or any combination of these learning styles. To be honest I have no experience in teaching outside of the college setting. The two years marked denotes my two years in upper division English classes at SVSU where student critiquing was the norm. Beyond helping my friends with their papers I took several classes on teaching and as such have academic experience, but not real world (ie K-12) experience. I have been in several writing workshops that cover a variety of English facets from research writing to creative writing to poetry. This spanned the second two years of my college career. I have also written stories of my own and had them critiqued by teachers and students, so I know firsthand what frustrations can result.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. All children were very well prepared for kindergarten. The older children, including High School and Middle School, I would walk around the room and aide them when they were confused. I also had them read the text orally taking turns and we would do the work sheet to prepare for quiz, test or new chapter. I am very patient with those who are truly in need of assistance. I have tutored in the past in phonics for those having difficulty reading and pronouncing letters.
