Bringing Out The Potential In Students...

I started out tutoring elementary students in basic math and English grammar while I attended college part time in the 1980's. I continued tutoring young students and adults in the 1990's, tutoring Basic Math, Basic and Intermediate Algebra, Basic Geometry, English Composition, Speech, Study Skills and the Sciences. I like to closely follow the curriculum which is being taught in school. If a student shows weakness in a certain area I like to stop and explain the concept fully to them. Then I provide them with many practice problems to help reinforce the fundamentals. I have had great success through this method. All of my students maintained a B+ or greater averga.

While I was a student at Norfolk State, I was a mentor and a tutor during my junior and senior years while maintaining a 3.0 GPA and graduating with honors. As a junior, I volunteered at one of the local middle schools as a mentor and I tutored mathematics. I also volunteered to tutor students on my campus in the basic math courses that were offered at my campus. As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, I worked as a tutor for two years. I helped other students struggling in mathematics and biology classes. Also, my senior year in college I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Microbiolgy lab. In addition, I did student teaching for a Catholic Middle School.

Since then, I have been working on research assignments with a bariatric surgeon from the Detroit Medical Center.
