My comments on tutoring Composition : I am an excellent writing composition tutor. I write well, have an enormous vocabulary and know how to find specifics in the MLA.

Teaching middle school and high school science from 1983 to 2004, including every science subject listed in the TutorSelect list. I have worked as an educational consultant for national science laboratories, helping them train their scientists to work better in the school classrooms where they volunteer. I have worked for museums and for outdoor education programs, but have found the most satisfaction as a classroom teacher with all kinds of students. I have worked teaching teachers, but they were very difficult students.
Multiple ways of presenting material; musically, visually, building models, finding answers by testing a hypothesis; experimenting, measuring, observing, seeing, touching.

I have 20+ years as a highly qualified educator and I still have tons of energy and passion for teaching. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire, my wife and I moved to South Korea and taught English. This opportunity allowed us to gain teaching experience and become absorbed in another culture. Upon completing our one year contract we then decided to move to Costa Rica and continue teaching English for six months. I am currently working on a Ph.D. at UNM and plan to become a professor.

I have found I am most successful by not being overly aggressive. I never confront my students with fast-paced drills or time limits. I like to work with students in a cooperative way, one that allows them to discover the best means of figuring out solutions by themselves. My intention is to build confidence and develop problem-solving abilities. Students are generally so pressured they are not able to demonstrate their potential. However giving seminars and training technical staff was common and bears similarity to formal teaching.
