My BS in Secondary Education from Florida State University has equipped me with the knowledge and experience in educational psychology and teaching strategies through both course- and fieldwork in Leon County, where I assisted students in their reading, ESOL, and writing for grammar and composition. Because of my degree, I was also afforded the opportunity to student teach middle school Language Arts for one semester, where I learned to plan and apply instruction, and adapt it to the needs of varying students and levels of ability in grammar, reading comprehension, and essay writing. I love to bring history to live for students so I like to explain events in a story format. It is important for students to memorize facts, however, so I focus on memorization techniques and organization. Reading requires comprehension so I use a combination of techniques including reading out loud and repetitive reading. I am patient and creative, so I can usually find what works for that individual student.

I was employed by the Interior Design department at FSU to teach undergraduate courses, being an instructor of record for the inital course for the department, Design Fundamentals. I have a passion for teaching and learning- it runs in the family as my husband is a middle school science and math teacher. Our parents are lifelong edcuators in Wakulla County.
