Creative Designer and Artist

I have been an artist since the age of two. I graduated Art Center College of Design and began a 35 plus year trek into the world of Graphic Design. As a person who has the capabilities to conceptualize, as well as draw anything, I can teach you the same. I can paint, draw, create 3D paper Sculptures, Packaging, Graphics - write copy, create ad campaigns, help you see what I see and teach you to do it yourself.
Personally prefer one on one, however I have taught groups, mostly young elementary school age children.

I am a very caring teacher. I love to use humor and encouragement in the hopes that the students will feel inspired to continue and flourish in their writing, even after our time together is over. I believe in children and their ability to acheive anything, and try to relay that message to them in a fun and patient way. I love to see the spark ignite in the eyes of someone who has achieved something they didn't know they could.
Although I have worked mostly in Film and Television since graduating from University, I returned to the University of LaVerne in Athens, Greece in 2004 to tutor foreign students in essay writing and to help hem with their entrance exams. I worked there part-time (3 days a week) for 2 years. I continued tutoring 2 students privately for another year. In 2009 I tutored after-school English at DeAnza Middle School in Ventura for approximately 6 months.

I like to try to see what is in a person and see what if I can develop their own style. Some people like to work small, others quite large. Some abstract others detailed and traditional. I like to have students explore many different mediums when they are comfortable and study who they themselves are. We study color, line, shape hue etc.The creative development of someone is a very enriching time if handled properly. People find sculpture fun when taught with wisdom. You see some like to go on to Illustrate and others to be Fine artists. After having 2 Galleries & Frame shop I believe I can help many in many different directions. I have also studied a wide range of art whether for enjoyment or for profession.
I have always drawn and painted. I put myself through college and taught one year at Vandenberg Middle School. I had then fallen in love with Los Olivos. I then went on throug ... read more

As a graduate of Sociology I have gained a lot of knowledge about how society functions. I was interested in this area of study to understand peoples because I have always had compassion for others. I have participated in a 4 unit class where i taught Spanish to 8-11 year old children and it consisted of developing a plan that included songs and dancing to learn Spanish in a fun and animated way. I have done research on homelessness, and had an internship with a non profit that provides social services for those in need. Working closely with this organization has helped me assess peoples needs and use problem solving skills to help individuals in a variety of situations.
I enjoy teaching and working with children and feel that it is important to understand that not all students learn the same way. I feel that my college experience has taught me to discover the ways I learn and und ... read more

My teaching style is to show students how to make themselves successful. By motivating my students to do their best every time I can help them exceed expectations and thrive under any situation both academically and socially. Many students focus on what they think they cannot do. What I teach them is to highlight their strengths and improve their weaknesses. I do so with the use of clear directions, constant monitoring, and positive praise. I believe every child can learn it is merely a matter of finding the proper teaching method.
As a University of South Florida college of education graduate I have a wealth of experience with teaching both in the classroom and on a one to one basis. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with older children especially those in high school. I strongly believe that all students can suceed in the classroom as long as they have a good understanding of the materials being taught. And I make it my mission to make sure my students gain this understanding and will use any measure or teaching tool to ensure this. I am extremely patient and understanding with students and my ultimate goal is to see them suceed.
As a recent college graduate, I have a dedicated work ethic and a high performance level in the classroom which will translate onto the students I work with. I have a passion for learning, and a love of all types of diversity. I thrive in one-on-one and small group scenarios where I can identify the learning styles and strengths of each child, and cater to their individuality. When I taught swimming one summer at the YMCA, I quickly became the favored instructor for kids aged 3-8, especially those in the extremes: fearful and fearless. The fearful children needed to be coaxed into confidence so that they could feel safe and proud to succeed at their own pace, while the fearless children needed firm but loving boundaries to ground them in safety and discipline so that they could be freed up to push themselves to their full potential.
For more than 20 years I have been an educator and advocate for children and families in multiple settings. I have eight years of volunteer and paid classroom experience with K-12, teaching and tutoring in a ... read more
