A Little Bit About Me...

In college, the focus of my degree was creative writing and social action. I gained extensive experience researching, writing narrative and informative papers and determining how to use the information most effectively. My creative work has been presented locally and at international conferences. After finishing my BA in Human Communications, I realized I wanted a better education for my daughters than the local school district could provide. I began an in depth study of educational philosophies and concluded that homeschooling would be in their best interest. Through educating them, I realized that I have a love for teaching. I currently graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a BS in Society and Environment. I also graduated with a Minor in Education. I have been tutoring (voluntarily) since I was in the 6th grade, and as of today, i am still involved with many organizations that specifically ask for tutors. I have a very diverse background and I have many years of experience teaching in different subjects. I was an English teacher for one year in Korea, teaching children at a public school. I have taught fine art at a private school in Salinas. I have also been teaching martial arts and self-defense for over 10 years. I have worked with children as young as 4, to adults in their senior years. I hold a bachelor's degree in Business Marketing from San Jose State and I graduated with honors.

Teaching can be a most wonderful adventure. I believe every child can learn. At times students or overwhelming with new concepts, and they need to be encouraged, and praise until they can accomplish the task at hand. I enjoy seeing the appearence of awareness on a childs face, when they have accomplished a goal, or solved a problem they had difficulty solving.
