My comments on tutoring Journalism : I am a former college journalist and have done occasional freelance work since.

I am a career educator who has taught English and other Humanities based courses extensively since 1988. My primary experience is on the college and university level but I also have a high school and middle school background. The educational and pedagogical philosophy I hold is this: The ability to communicate effectively remains the most vital of skills and is crucial to academic and career advancement. It is with a sense of privilege and honor I teach and with a sense of urgency as communication skills continue to evolve in a quickly changing world. Technology is not a substitute for literacy. My comments on tutoring Journalism : I have a master's degree in English and have taught composition at a community college.

I believe in working with students, not talking at them. I ask lots of questions and make sure students retain the information and can apply it to the real world.
I have experience teaching at a two-year university and a two-year college, in composition, communications, and public speaking. In the summer time during my undergraduate career I worked as a camp counselor and coach in Colorado for children from the ages of 6-18. After completion of my BA I coached at my alma-mater. From there I decided to pursue my graduate education and took a scholarship in the althetic department at the University of Arkansas where I became an academic advisor for the football team for 4 years. In the summers during my graduate career I worked for Sylvan Learning centers. I began as an English teacher and filled in on Math when they were short handed.
