I was an English Instructor in an elementary school in Germany. Up to 12 children (2nd Grade, ages 8-9 years). In addition, I taught English at a German Day Care facility where the children were between the ages of 2-5 years old. My responsibilities included teaching everyday vocabulary in a fun and exciting way. The company that I worked for was contracted by the US Army in Europe to provide American children with special courses to enhance their experience in Europe. I taught German to US military family members (ages 6-18). I was responsible for creating an efficient and enriching curriculum. I like to make teaching fun! If a student is bored they aren't going to be putting 100% into their work. I also use a positive reward system and celebrate all achievement. Even if it is minor.
I have been working with kids of all ages for a long time. I love to see them learn and grow. That moment when they "get" something is magical! I spent the 2011-2012 school year teaching at a title 1 school in Collier County and have grown exponentially from it! I had several students in my class who needed special help, and half of my class were English language learners. Education is essential for the mind to grow.

On the whole, I look for a rather creative approach when it comes to learning and studying. I ask that students be skeptical in all they hear and read, so asking questions as a form of studying will be essential. Just reading a book or looking at flash cards for studying purposes can prove to be tedious and ineffective. And putting what's learned in context is always necessary if the subject calls for any everyday application.
I have helped people with their English-speaking skills off and on and am very skilled in spelling and grammar. I've been learning Japanese for going on three years, as well. I'm aware that it's not a particularly high in-demand language to learn, but I am more than willing to aid in learning it if it is desired. Also, having graduated high school, I have enough knowledge to teach kids about the basics of science, math, and English.

I taught at Temple Judea Pre-School in Fort Myers as an assistant teacher; I assumed duties when the teacher was absent. While working in various non-teaching positions I translated for Spanish speaking patients and trained Spanish speaking new employees. I speak both Spanish and English without an accent in either language.
I think that language should be taught by sentences rather than by conjugation of language parts. It is important that a student thinks in the language rather than translate; the student has to feel the language. As a fifty-six year old widow who has raised a child I have the maturity and patience to help children learn.
