In my experience with teaching, I find that the best way to connect and convey the information is to provide aural, visual and experiential exposure to the material. Everyone does not learn at the same pace or through the same exposure to material. I recently graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelors in Science. My major was public health and I minored in biology and psychology. Throughout my college career, I have participated in many community service clubs and worked at a tutoring center where I helped college students with their weekly writing assignments. When explaining concepts to students in classes that I sub-taught I felt the best approach was to talk to individual students and use a whiteboard to clearly explain the concepts. I usually would give hints or start the problem, and then I would look for the student to add insight on how to progress. I also feel that teaching is an adaptive process and each student has their own learning personality that the teacher needs to recognize and adjust to. Asking questions throughout the learning process and maintaining a positive attitude also aid the learning process.
