My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school. I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me. I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam. No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

My first work experience began with counseling Severely Emotionally Disturbed children and their families. In this capacity I worked with the schools in order to enable the students to see the value of education and to work through their personal problems in order to be successful in the school setting. With degrees from one of the nations top universities, I have many experiences working with students. I have worked with students through Jumpstart (an AmeriCorps program), as a youth camp specialist, and as a after school program coordinator at an elementary school in Naples. I am currently working on a graduate degree in School Counseling. I believe that helping youth succeed to be their best is very important and must be a priority.
