I prefer a style that empowers the students to take ownership of their work so they will become better thinkers and writers. I prefer discussion-based learning opposed to "lecture-style" teaching where I can interact freely with the student as a peer-tutor. More specifically, I like to use white boards and visual aids in sessions.
I have worked in Cedarville University's Writing Center as a tutor for two years. Buddies are important because they give students someone other than the teacher to go to with questions that may seem "silly" and give them someone with whom to share concerns.
