With more than 15 years' experience as a newspaper reporter, I have served on the staffs of local and niche newspapers. I have literally covered everything under the sun, ranging from covering a draft horse competition to writing a feature about a former Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon member. In my spare time, I write freelance articles for national trade publications and design jewelry. I've been designing jewelry for nearly as long as I've been writing. I don't use patterns and I don't copy someone else's work. During the past 5 years I have been a substitute teacher for Kentwood Public Schools and Excel Charter School in both elementary and high school classes.
