As a UNCP alumnus, I currently hold a BS in Biology. I have tutored peers in the past during my second year at UNCP. Subjects that I am familiar are science and math. I have a lot of experience in the science field. I currently work full-time in a lab using my science degree. I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. After college, I did some private consulting, helping people write admissions essays and prepare for the ACT and other standardized tests. Because I am a Business major, I tend to like to work with only numbers. But my tutoring career began with kids that were below grade level in reading. So I used my business mindset to give my young clients(students) stories that were of interest to them and I made sure that the stories were easy reading and I gradually got the kids to read "at grade level".
